How to check a clinician in Texas

Every clinic record on this site says the licence has not been checked. These are the official registries where you can check it yourself, and they are the same registries we will use when we do.

Physicians
Texas Medical Board — look up a licence →
Search by name to see licence status and any disciplinary history.
Nurses and nurse practitioners
Texas Board of Nursing — licensure verification →
Many clinics in this category are nurse-practitioner-led. This is the registry that covers them.
Complaints
File with the state →
Complaints go to the board, not to a directory. We cannot act on one; the board can.
Nationwide
NPPES NPI Registry →
Every clinician who bills insurance has a National Provider Identifier. Searchable by name and state, nationwide.
Nationwide
FSMB DocInfo →
Run by the Federation of State Medical Boards — the body the state boards belong to. It is the only place that shows licence and disciplinary history across state lines; a single state board only sees its own.

What Texas rules mean for a clinic like these

Three things differ meaningfully by state and shape what you will find in this market. We report what the official source says and do not interpret it.

Nurse practitioner authority Restricted — physician supervision required

Texas requires a prescriptive authority agreement between the physician and the advanced practice nurse. In non-facility settings one physician may delegate to a limited number of advanced practice registered nurses and physician assistants.

Telehealth

For prescriptive authority agreements executed after 1 September 2019, the required physician–APRN meetings may be held remotely rather than face to face. Monthly meetings are mandatory and agreements are reviewed annually.

Med-spa oversight

Non-surgical medical cosmetic procedures are defined as the practice of medicine. The rule requires a posted notice in every public area and treatment room naming the delegating physician and their Texas medical licence number — the single most checkable artefact in a Texas med spa. The rule was renumbered in 2025.
